The Airshow Returns

July 20th, 2022

After almost 20 years, the airshow returns to the skies of the Northwest!

A LEGACY REBORN

It is with great excitement that The Northwest Regional Airshow Society are able to announce that the Canadian Snowbirds will return to Terrace as part of the Northwest Regional Airshow in 2022.

The Northwest Regional Airshow Society is thrilled to be hosting this group of aerialists along with the CF-18 demo team and more. The Terrace/Kitimat area has not experienced an airshow since the previous airshow committee arranged an aerial display in 2004 which did not include the Canadian Snowbirds. This means that it will have been more than 21 years since this group of aerial acrobats have had the opportunity to awe and amaze crowds at the Northwest Regional Airport. This event is Covid 19 pending with rules and regulations from the British Columbia Government.

The date is July 20th at 5:00pm. With the intense interest in outdoor sports and aviation in the Northwest, this event will unquestionably attract visitors from outlying communities.
Air Boss

BILL SNELGROVE

Since 1984 Bill Snelgrove has been involved in the air operations side of air show productions, specifically as an Air Boss. From, arguably the biggest air show in Canada, (Toronto’s Canadian International Air Show) ,to some of the smallest, including the occasional American Air Show. Bill hs been a member of the North East Council of Air Shows since 1997 and has served as President, also was one of the Founding Directors of the Air Boss Association of Canada, which has become a part of the Safety and Operations Committee of ICAS, which has established benchmark qualifications and training requirements for Air Bosses in Canada.
Master of Ceremonies

KEN HILDEBRANDT

Ken grew up around the Abbotsford Airport and the world-famous Abbotsford International Airshow. While working at his family’s farm, he would often be caught looking up to the sky to catch a Cessna landing or the Air Cadets towing yet another glider up to altitude. As a little boy, he would sit on a wooden-rail fence each August, and watch in awe as amazing pilots, heroes to a young boy enraptured by the magic of flight, flew their airplanes in to incredible loops and hammerheads at the annual airshow. While he was certainly enthralled by the many amazing flying machines that screamed over his head each summer, he was particularly interested in the people who announced the action over the loud speakers, thinking they had a pretty awesome gig. Thus began a 30+ year interest in airshow announcing.
A theatre-producer, director and actor by profession, Ken is the Executive/Artistic Director of Gallery 7 Theatre in his home-town of Abbotsford, BC. He holds a private pilot’s license with a night endorsement, and is a member of the Abbotsford Flying Club, International Council of Airshows (ICAS) and Northwest Council of Airshows (NWCAS). Ken’s love for airplanes & airshows, coupled with his experience as a private pilot and as an actor, director & producer, make him an ideal member of any airshow announcing team, providing airshow fans with informative and entertaining commentary that puts people right in to the cockpit. His motto for announcing is “Entertain – Inform – Inspire”.
